A Ba ti de I Ba pe o, ona lo di

Opelope Ogun ti o lana…

This verse of ikawori speaks about Ogun importance, his calculative mindset on any missions no matter  how small or big.

More so,the energies of Ogun that show His activism,  or sense of responsible leadership in a protective ways that is centered in making sure He and the rest of 400 irunmonles are well on their  journey from heaven to earth.

Erin lo su imin elu ko se da’aro,Agunfun lo su imi sese ko fi se wata,Agunje’elu ni I mun won se inu tamuntamun si’oloko  are the Oluwo(the grand priests of heaven) that cast Ifa for 400 irunmonles that include Orunmila are other very important Orishas like Obatala , Osun , shango, Obá , oya, orisaoko etc.

the Oluwos told them that their journey will be fine but there will be challenges that ebo should be done so that their journey will be smooth and fast…

They did not bother to do the ebo, they say they will do it later when they get to earth as their mission on earth is long overdue… They felt that ebo can wait because they have enough power to subdue whatever obstacle that the Oluwo could have seen on their way… So They left without doing the ebo.

Ogun also went to “Erin lo su imin elu ko se da’aro

Agunfun lo su imi sese ko fi se wata

Agunje’elu ni I mun won se inu tamuntamun si’oloko ” to get divination on this journey so that he and the rest 400 Irunmonle will be well. He was also ask to do same ebo that include machete(cutlass) goats , owo, epo, obi etc…

Ogun went back, he did ebo.

Everything was fine and he is much prepared with the blessings of the ebo.

While he was getting read and doing the ebo, the other irunmonles were already long gone .He was left alone far behind.

At some point when the 400 irunmonles get close to the crossing between heaven and earth, the path become blocked and every directions are nothing but dead paths that lead nowhere.

They are stuck and helpless with no idea of what to do…

Everyone of them use their unique ase to make it happen but it won’t happen because their essence is made for different course while that challenge need a particular approach that they had already neglected…

Long story short, there come Ogun from far behind wondering why his colleagues are turning around perplexed like water in a dam with no direction.

He asked them…

Why did you stopped ?

They responded in one voice …

And said the road is blocked and we are stuck…

Ogun said , “eewoo” ona ki I di mon emi Ogun ”

That’s it’s a taboo for me Ogun to be stuck , paths cannot  be blocked on me …

Then esu came to him and ask him if he had done ebo , he said yes .

Esu say then use your machete to clear these and let there be clear path again …

This Ogun did and all the Irunmonle are saying thank you Ogun the one that open the path…

Ogunlana, a name that means Ogun has clear the path.
